20+ Must-See Movies Before Going to Disney World 2026

Cinderella Castle is the heart of Magic Kingdom, so Cinderella is a natural movie choice before your first visit.

Inside the castle walkway, you can find detailed mosaics that tell Cinderella’s story. Families can also dine inside the castle at Cinderella’s Royal Table.

In addition, Cinderella may greet guests at Princess Fairytale Hall. She also appears at 1900 Park Fare at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Why watch it: Children will better understand the castle, the Fairy Godmother, Cinderella’s glass slipper, and other story details.

My planning tip: Walk through the castle instead of rushing around it. The mosaics are beautiful and easy to overlook.

The Tangled area in Fantasyland is one of my favorite places to slow down and admire Disney’s attention to detail. You can see Rapunzel’s tower, wanted posters, lanterns, and several hidden Pascals around the area.

Although there is not a Tangled attraction, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider appear in Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire. Rapunzel also appears on a beautiful float during the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade. Rapunzel is frequently one of the princesses at the Princess Fairytale Hall.

Why watch it: The movie helps children recognize Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Pascal, and the Snuggly Duckling details.

My planning tip: Visit the area after dark when the lanterns are glowing. It is also a convenient place to recharge your phone.

Peter Pan’s Flight lets you board a flying pirate ship and soar over London before traveling to Never Land.

The attraction includes several familiar scenes from the animated movie. You may see Wendy, John, Michael, Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, mermaids, and the Lost Boys.

Even better, Peter Pan sometimes meets guests near the attraction. A large Peter Pan float also appears in the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade.

Why watch it: The attraction moves quickly through the story. Knowing the characters makes each scene easier to understand.

My planning tip: Peter Pan’s Flight often has a long standby wait. Consider selecting it through Lightning Lane Multi Pass.

The Princess and the Frog is one of my top movie recommendations before a Magic Kingdom visit.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure continues the story after the movie. Tiana is preparing to host a celebration, but she needs help finding musicians for the party.

Princess Tiana also greets guests at Princess Fairytale Hall. She appears with Naveen and other friends during Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire.

You can also meet Adventure Tiana at 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort.

Why watch it: Knowing Tiana, Naveen, Louis, Mama Odie, and the movie’s music adds more meaning to the attraction.

My planning tip: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure includes a large drop, and guests may get wet. Protect anything that should stay dry.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train combines a family coaster with scenes inspired by Disney’s first animated feature film.

The ride includes the Seven Dwarfs working inside their sparkling mine. You will also see Snow White dancing inside the cottage.

Best of all, guests can dine with Snow White, Dopey, Grumpy, and the Evil Queen at Story Book Dining at Artist Point. This character meal is located at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

Why watch it: The movie introduces children to all seven dwarfs and helps them understand the cottage and mine scenes.

My planning tip: The ride vehicles can feel snug around the legs and knees. Review seating information before making it a high-priority attraction.

The animated version of Alice in Wonderland connects directly with the Mad Tea Party.

Magic Kingdom offers several ways to step into the story of Beauty and the Beast.

At Enchanted Tales with Belle, guests enter Maurice’s cottage and travel through a magical mirror. Selected guests may help retell Belle’s story.

Families can also dine inside the Beast’s castle at Be Our Guest Restaurant. The restaurant includes the Grand Ballroom, the West Wing, and the Castle Gallery.

On top of that, Belle appears in Mickey’s PhilharMagic and the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade.

Why watch it: The movie helps guests recognize the castle rooms and understand the characters featured during Enchanted Tales with Belle.

Like Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean inspired the movie series.

The attraction opened before the films, but Captain Jack Sparrow was later added to several scenes. Guests travel through caves, a pirate battle, and a town filled with troublesome pirates.

Why watch it: Fans of the movies will enjoy looking for Captain Jack Sparrow and familiar pirate details.

My planning tip: The attraction includes a small drop in the dark. You may also feel a light splash.

EPCOT combines Disney stories with science, nature, culture, food, and imagination. Several newer attractions have made movie nights even more useful before visiting this park.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind sends guests on an intergalactic chase through space and time.

The attraction includes characters from the Guardians movies, including Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, and Drax. It also features a rotating ride system and a surprise song during each adventure.

You do not need to watch every Marvel movie first. The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie provides enough background for most guests.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure shrinks guests to the size of a rat for a fast-paced trip through Gusteau’s restaurant.

The attraction uses trackless ride vehicles, large screens, scents, physical sets, and gentle motion. You will follow Remy through the kitchen, dining room, and walls of the restaurant.

In fact, this attraction makes much more sense after watching the movie. Guests will understand Remy’s dream, Chef Skinner’s frustration, and the importance of Gusteau’s restaurant.

Why watch it: The attraction places you directly inside several moments inspired by the film.

My planning tip: The combination of screens and movement may cause motion sensitivity for some guests.

The Seas with Nemo & Friends begins with a gentle clamshell ride based on Finding Nemo. Animated characters appear to swim alongside real marine animals inside the pavilion’s aquarium.

Turtle Talk with Crush is an interactive show where Crush speaks directly with audience members. Characters from Finding Dory may also appear during the show.

Why watch it: Children will recognize Nemo, Marlin, Dory, Crush, and other ocean friends.

My planning tip: Don't rush through The Seas, there is a Dory Scavenger Hunt that is a fun way to explore the aquarium.

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is a self-guided exploration trail in EPCOT’s World Nature neighborhood.

Guests interact with water as it moves from the sky to the ocean and back again. Some areas allow children to splash and play, while a dry path is also available.

Moana may also greet guests near the entrance to the attraction.

Why watch it: The movie explores Moana’s connection with the ocean and adds meaning to the attraction’s playful water effects.

My planning tip: Choose the dry path when you do not want wet clothing or shoes. The wet sections can be refreshing on a hot day.

Hollywood Studios has some of Walt Disney World’s most immersive movie-based experiences.

Toy Story Land makes guests feel as though they have been shrunk to the size of a toy inside Andy’s backyard.

The land includes Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers, and Toy Story Mania! Guests may also meet Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear.

Large building blocks, game pieces, crayons, and holiday lights help create the oversized backyard setting.

Why watch it: The movies help children recognize the toys and understand the playful details throughout the land.

My planning tip: Start with the first Toy Story. You do not need to watch every sequel before your trip.

Knowing the basic Star Wars story can help guests feel more connected to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Inside the land, guests can pilot the Millennium Falcon, join the Resistance, build a lightsaber, drink blue milk, and encounter characters such as Rey, Chewbacca, and Stormtroopers.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance places guests inside a battle between the Resistance and the First Order. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run allows each rider to perform a role inside the famous ship.

For the classic story, watch Episodes IV, V, and VI.

To understand most Galaxy’s Edge characters, watch Episodes VII, VIII, and IX.

For one movie only, I suggest Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Although you can enjoy Pandora without watching the movie, Avatar explains the Na’vi, Pandora, banshees, and the connection between living things.

My planning tip: Avatar Flight of Passage uses a motorcycle-style ride seat with restraints around the back and lower legs. Guests must transfer from a wheelchair or ECV.

Festival of the Lion King is a colorful celebration featuring music, dancing, puppetry, acrobatics, and characters inspired by The Lion King.

The show is not a complete retelling of the movie. Instead, it feels like a joyful festival with Simba, Timon, Pumbaa, and other performers.

Families can also stay in a Lion King Family Suite at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.

Why watch it: Familiar songs and characters make the show even more exciting.

My planning tip: Arrive before the posted showtime. Seating begins early, and popular performances may fill.

Watching Up introduces guests to Russell, Dug, Carl, Kevin, and the Wilderness Explorers.

At Animal Kingdom, guests may see Kevin exploring Discovery Island. Children can also complete Wilderness Explorer activities and earn badges throughout the park.

Feathered Friends in Flight! is not an Up show, but it shares the movie’s appreciation for birds and nature.

Why watch it: Children may feel more excited about becoming Wilderness Explorers after seeing Russell’s adventure.

My planning tip: Wilderness Explorers is included with park admission. You do not need to complete every badge in one visit.

Zootopia: Better Zoogether! is a 4D show inside the Tree of Life Theater.

Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde lead guests through a celebration featuring the different biomes and citizens of Zootopia.

Guests may also have an opportunity to meet Judy and Nick at the Zoogether Day Gathering Spot.
