If you are a big fan of the Monorails at Walt Disney World, you should try a quick service meal at the Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It is a great, budget-friendly alternative to Chef Mickey’s. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner all have great options. Plus, out of all the monorail resorts, the Contempo Cafe has the best desserts!

Contempo Cafe
Contempo Cafe is located in Disney’s Contemporary Resort on the 3rd floor. You can get to this tasty quick-service restaurant from the monorail. The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor.

Almost every seat gives you a great view of the Express Monorail zipping through the resort. The monorail comes through about every 7 minutes or so.
Right outside of the Cafe, you will find a huge Mary Blair Moasic. Mary Blair is the artist behind It’s A Small World.
Contempo Cafe Breakfast
The breakfast offered is pretty standard for a Disney resort. It seems like most resorts have very similar breakfast options. I did enjoy the Scrambled Hash Bowl which I haven’t seen elsewhere.

Contempo Cafe Lunch & Dinner
The lunch and dinner menu has quite a few tasty items that I enjoy. One I enjoy a lot is the Contempo Smokehouse Burger. The menu description is: Grilled 7 oz Angus Burger with Cheddar, Lettuce, Tomato, and a Fried Onion Ring smeared with Smoked Bacon Marmalade on a Griddled Brioche Bun served with Vegetable Slaw. The smoked bacon marmalade is the star of this burger.

I also love the Hot Turkey Sandwich. The menu description reads: Roasted Turkey, Smoked Bacon, Arugula, Tomato, White Cheddar, and Cranberry Aïoli served on a Toasted Multigrain Bread served with Vegetable Slaw. The cranberry aioli and the arugula are a tasty combination. The sandwich is filling and the homemade chips that come with it are so crisp and fresh!

Cupcakes & Desserts

One of the signature cupcakes of the Contemporary resort is the Monorail Cupcake. This cupcake is a vanilla cupcake filled with cookies and cream frosting. The cupcake is them adorned with a white chocolate monorail and a sandwich cookie. My thoughts on the cupcake are that it is cute and an iconic treat to have, but they are too sweet for me and I can’t taste much ‘cookies and cream’ flavor.
The pastry chefs at the Contempo Resort create such beautiful desserts and the cupcakes change often, except for the monorail cupcake which also has a lower price point.
Another great dessert that you should try is the self-serve soft-serve ice cream. There is even a toppings bar to go along with it. They have vanilla, chocolate, and swirl flavors.
Have you ever dined at the Contempo Cafe? What did you order and how was it? Let me know in the comments below!
