Pirates, talking birds, and a punny jungle cruise are just some of the great things you will encounter in Adventureland. Today I am sharing with you all the attractions, characters, dining options, and gift shops you will find in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom.
Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom
Adventureland is the first left after you get down Main Street U.S.A. Go towards Crystal Palace and you will see the sign for Adventureland.
If you have a love for pirates, this is an area you definitely don’t want to skip.
Adventureland Attractions
Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse – Magic Kingdom guests can relive the classic Disney film “Swiss Family Robinson” as they climb through the shipwrecked Robinsons’ home at the Swiss Family Treehouse in Adventureland. At more than six stories high, the Swiss Family Treehouse overlooks much of Adventureland, including the river of the Jungle Cruise.
Attraction Tips: This is an attraction with lots of steps (116 to be exact). I don’t handle steps well so I tend to avoid this attraction.
Jungle Cruise – Get ready to go on a long cruise, or at least that is what the skippers on the Jungle Cruise tell you! This is a fun ride for all of the family. You travel through a jungle river with lots of animatronic animals carrying out shenanigans. The best part is the jokes and puns the Skippers tell along the way as your guide. This is a Magic Kingdom Must-Do.
Attraction Tips: You should be able to get a Genie+ for this attraction, ever since the Jungle Cruise movie the ride has been super popular. If not, the wait is not too bad because it is shaded and they have a few fans in the fun queue area. During the Christmas season, the Jungle Cruise gets a holiday overlay and becomes the Jingle Jungle Cruise.
Magic Carpets of Aladdin – This ride is similar to Dumbo, except that a lot of the queue is not shaded.
Attraction Tips: The camel in front and to the side of the ride occasionally spits water so beware unless you want to be wet. If there is a line, grab a Dole Whip and get it in line. The people in the front of the ride vehicle control how high the carpet gets. The people in the back can tilt the carpet forward and backward.
Pirates of the Caribbean – Set sail on a swashbuckling voyage to a long-forgotten time and place when pirates and privateers ruled the seas. This is one of the best-themed rides on Disney property!
Show Tips: If you do not get a Genie+ reservation the line can get a bit long but the line is inside so at least you are out of the sun. During this ride, you might get a teeny bit wet during the small drop and in the canon ball scene.
A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasure of the Seven Seas – In this interactive experience guests participate in pirate raids throughout Adventureland. Using pirate maps, guests engage in five different raids as they join Captain Jack Sparrow to fight off the Royal Navy, Captain Barbossa, headhunters, curses — and the greatest threat of all, Calypso, the sea goddess. This is free to play. The map makes a great souvenir!
Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Tutorial – Train to become a pirate. Looking for new recruits, Captain Jack and his mate Mack lead guests through a series of pirate skill tests to prove their mettle. Who is craftiest at wooden swordplay? Who can flash their most menacing pirate grimace? Faster than you can say “Yo, Ho, Yo, Ho, the Pirate’s Life for Me,” the big moment arrives: getting officially sworn in with the Pirate’s Oath to become honorary buccaneers of Captain Jack’s famous Pirate Crew.
There are shows once an hour from noon until 6 pm. Be sure to check the Times Guide at Magic Kingdom park for the show schedule. Since this is an outdoor show, it is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. Shows may not occur daily and are subject to change.
Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room – Tropical birds, Tiki gods, and colorful flowers come to life in a swinging 10-minute South Seas musical celebration. The whole room is the show.
Show Tips: Don’t miss the preshow! It is best to not sit in the very first row. A lot of the show is up above and it is not comfortable to have your neck tilted up the whole show.
Adventureland Dining
Aloha Isle Refreshments – This is where you can get the famous Dole Whip. Mobile ordering is available and is a great time saver.
Skipper Canteen – This is a table-service restaurant. Inspired by the Jungle Cruise attraction at Magic Kingdom Park, The Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen in Adventureland features “World Famous Jungle Cuisine” with the bold, flavorful tastes of Asia, South America, and Africa. I have dined here twice and the experience is the best when you have a Cast Member that fully gets in the Jungle Cruise scene and tells lots of puns.
Sunshine Tree Terrace – This is where you can get the famous, tasty orange swirl.
Tortuga Tavern – This restaurant is open seasonally during the busiest times of the year. The menu is simple, but the inside is gorgeous! If you are wanting to find a quieter bathroom, the bathroom in Tortuga Tavern is less crowded especially when the place is closed.
Adventureland Character Greetings
Jasmine & Aladdin – Check the times guide for what times they are out for greeting guests. Aladdin is the only prince you can meet without a dining reservation. You can find them at the Agrabah Bazaar gift shop.
Adventureland Gift Shops

Pirates Bazaar – You will find this gift shop after riding the Pirates of the Caribbean. Here you will find all things pirate!
Agrabah Bazaar – An Open-air marketplace with Middle Eastern clothing and costumes, and souvenirs from the land of Aladdin.
Island Supply Company – The Sunglass Hut sponsors this gift shop so if you forgot your sunglasses or you just need a pair of Disney ones, this is the place to go.

Hi Dawn, Yes, there is a free dining period (usually announced in the spring for for the current year). When you get get free dining you forego any room discounts there may be. Depending on how you plan to eat at Disney the meal plan may or may not be the right choice for you. A lot of families save money by paying out of pocket for meals and then getting a room discount. Here is a post I have all about the dining plan, possible scenarios and pro & cons: https://www.pixiedustsavings.com/disney-dining-plan/ As for getting the best deal on your vacation overal, I really reccomend using an approved Disney Vacation planner. They are free to use and any discounts that come out for your vacation that apply to you automatically get applied to your account.
