Friar Nook’s Loaded Buffalo Chicken Tots

Magic Kingdom’s Friar’s Nook has the most amazing Tater Tot dishes. They swap out the varieties often. I really love the buffalo chicken ones and decided to recreate the recipe at home. The Friar’s Nook Loaded Buffalo Chicken Tots are pieces of buffalo chicken over crunchy potato tots with a garlic ranch drizzle, topped with pieces of blue cheese and chopped celery. They are so good, but not overly spicy.

The ranch, blue cheese, and celery “cool” down the buffalo flavor a bit.

Loaded Buffalo Chicken Tots Recipe

For this recipe you will need:

  • Skinless/boneless Chicken Breasts or Tenders
  • Tator Tots
  • Garlic Ranch Dressing
  • Blue Cheese
  • Ingredients to make the Buffalo Sauce which include hot sauce, butter, Worcestershire sauce, white vinegar, and garlic powder.

This recipe is super simple and you can customize it to your family’s preference when it comes to how spicy you like it.

Instructions:

Cook the Chicken. I decided to saute the chicken in my cast iron skillet with a little bit of olive oil. You could also bake the chicken in an oven preheated to 425 degrees for about 15-20 minutes.

Whatever method you choose, make sure the chicken is fully cooked by inserting an instant-read thermometer and making sure the temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Once the chicken is cooked, chop the chicken into bite-sized pieces.

Bake the Tots. Prepare tots according to package directions. I started the tater tots while the chicken was cooking and both were done about the same time.

Dice the Celery. Dice the celery into small pieces and place into a bowl for serving.

Make the Buffalo Sauce. Add all the buffalo sauce ingredients together in a small saucepan. Whisk frequently. Once the sauce comes to a simmer, remove the pan from the heat.

The sauce comes together quickly, maybe around 10 minutes.

Assemble the Loaded Tots. Put a layer of tots on the bottom of your plate. Add the buffalo chicken. Drizzle the garlic ranch on. Sprinkle the crumbled Blue Cheese and celery.

My dish is without the celery because I thought we had some and we were out. Still a good dish, but the celery is needed for cooling measures!

Enjoy while you imagine yourself in the middle of Fantasyland!
