Cruising on the Disney Cruise line is not just for kids! The mixology class is just one of several beverage tasting seminars aboard a Disney Cruise ship. Disney’s Mixology class is a fun, tasty, and informative workshop that is a must-do!

The Mixology class is not complimentary with your cruise and costs about $30-$50 not including gratuity. This onboard activity is something you book prior to boarding the ship but if it is sold out there is always a chance of signing up once onboard. I signed up once on the ship since it was booked up prior.
Mixology Class on the Disney Magic
The class is for anyone. I am a drinking novice, just drinking an occasional cocktail or glass of wine, and really got a lot out of the experience. For more experienced drinkers, you still get a lot of information and many guests in the class had taken it several times.

The Cast Member makes the magic. Sergio was the name of the bartender that instructed my class. He introduced himself and told us a bit about how he got interested in mixology. Then he described the way the seminar would go and how mixology has evolved over the years. Due to Covid, we did not technically get to mix the drinks ourselves but they were served to us after Sergio described how to make them.
For each drink, he described the history of the drink, information about the liquors used, what tools and glasses to use, and some other fun facts. You might want to pay attention because at the end of each drink he made, he would give his full-size drink away to the person that answered his quiz question.

In my seminar we made a Kir Royal, Mango Mojito, a Red Storm (a Disney Magic created Sangria), a Pomegranate Martini, and a baby Guinness shot. Typically each class will have you tasting a chamange cocktail, a mojito, a sangria, a martini, and a dessert cocktail. You don’t need to bother with making sure to take receipe notes as they will hand those out to you before you leave.

Mixology Class Tips
- Book ASAP. Once you have completed your online check-in you will be able to start the fun process of adding onboard activities such as this mixology class. New Disney Cruisers are able to start booking port adventures and onboard activities for their Disney Cruise at midnight Eastern time 75 days out from their sail date. If you have booked your cruise with me I can book these experiences for you.
- Eat. Have a meal before coming to the class. You will not want to attend this class on an empty stomach. While the drinks are on the smaller size you are still drinking 5 cocktails within an hour.
- Drink Water. As soon as you get seated they hand you water and encourage you to drink.
- Plan a Relaxing Time Afterward. This is especially true if you are a lightweight drinker like me. I went back to my stateroom and enjoyed the view from my veranda for a while. I think I also took a short nap. Swimming would have also been a good idea.
Not interested in a mixology class? No worries! Disney has several other beverage tasting classes aboard the ship and plenty of other adult-only entertainment.
