Tips for Turtle Talk with Crush at Epcot

If you have kids, Turtle Talk with Crush at Epcot is a must-do! Even if you don’t have kids this is a great show to get some good laughs in and to enjoy some nice AC out of the Florida sun. Here are my tips for Turtle Talk with Crush at Epcot. 

Turtle Talk with Crush at Epcot

The show began as a prototype in the Research and Development labs of Walt Disney Imagineering in California in 2001. The challenge was to give guests a way to personally interact with Crush from his animated, undersea world. Using digital projection and sophisticated real-time, voice-activated animation, Turtle Talk with Crush is a 15-minute show where guests of all ages can ask Crush questions about marine biology, his friends, and more. 

The show is directed at kids, but very enjoyable for adults as well. The kids sit on the floor in the front. There are some short benches behind the kid’s area that the adults sit on. A cast member comes out and introduces Crush. Crush comes out and starts chatting with the kids. Crush says that Squirt has some questions about humans and he would answer questions about turtles. This turns into kids say the darndest things!!

For example, one time one kid asked, where turtles go potty. Everyone in the room started laughing. Crush answered the questions and “added” so much that I almost “pottied”, LOL. Crush said, “Well, where do you swim?. He then went behind some rocks and said, “Here in the ocean we have a saying ‘go with the flow’.  Then Crush said Squirt found some items from the human world and wanted to know what they were. He pulled out a bikini top and asked what is what. I said, it is to cover up and he said doesn’t seem like it covers up much. LOL. He then puts on the bikini top. 🙂

After the debut of Finding Dory, Dory and Destiny now make an appearance in the show. They teach everyone to speak whale. 

Turtle Talk with Crush Tips

Watch Finding Nemo and Finding Dory. Before coming to Disney World I suggest watching these two movies so your children are familiar with the characters. Check out my whole list of the movies to watch before visiting Walt Disney World. 

No Fastpass Needed. Unless you have unneeded Fastpasses to use, don’t bother using one here. The wait time rarely goes over 20 minutes which is about 2 show cycles. 

Explore the Show Waiting Area. In the waiting area, there are some aquatic animal tanks to explore.  Older kids can play Mr. Ray’s Pop Quiz and answer some fun questions about sea life. 

Prepare Some Questions Ahead of Time.  After watching several shows, I have noticed that some children get shy once Crush actually calls on them for questions. Try to introduce sea turtles ahead of time and then ask them to come up with a list of questions to ask if they get called on. 

Explore the Seas with Nemo. Ride the Nemo ride before the show and then after Turtle Talk explore the aquarium. Check out my guide to the Seas with Nemo and Friends Pavilion to see everything there is to do.
