One of the most detailed Disney Park icons is Disney’s Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom. It is an engineered tree that has many animals carved in its’ base and the leaves were all made. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Tree of Life is my inspiration for this q-tip painting craft.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Tree of Life Craft Materials
Materials Needed:
- Brown Paint (optional)
- Colored Pencils, Crayons, or Markers (optional)
- Green Paint, more than one shade if possible. I used 3 in my examples.
- Q-tips
- Small piece of pipe cleaner
- Glue
- Tree of Life Trunk Printable
- Construction Paper for Background
How to Paint Disney’s Tree of Life
First, print out the Tree of Life Trunk printable and add color to the trunk. In one example, I used colored pencils and added a little bit of earthy color to the animals to have them blend in a little bit. You could also use crayons or markers to do the same thing. In the second example, I just painted the trunk brown. You could also use crayons and markers to do the same. This way of doing it would be easiest for little crafters.
Cut out the trunk and glue to construction paper using regular glue or a glue stick.
Next, choose how to paint the leaves. One method is to bunch the cotton swabs together and tie them together with the pipe cleaner. Another method is to bunch the cotton swabs together and then after tieing them together spread out the tips. The third option is to just use on q-tip and do one leaf at a time.
You can also paint grass and/or shrubs at the bottom.
Finally, allow the piece to dry and hang to enjoy.
