How to Make a Lost Things Game
This pixie-dusted scavenger hunt takes very few materials and is very cheap to make.
You will need the following items:
Bottle. A bottle with a larger mouth is the best choice so items can be a little bit bigger. I used a Gatorade bottle. Wash out the bottle and make sure it is completely dry.
Rice. Basic white rice is great to use. You can also dye the rice in different colors. If you decide to dye the rice you will need vinegar and food coloring. I got the directions for dying the rice from Happy Hooligans.

Lost Things. Lost things can be any little things you have lying around the house. Look in your junk drawer. Just put one of each item so there are lots of things to look for. Here are some ideas:
- Buttons
- Random Keys
- Hairpins
- Barrettes
- Glass gems
- Beads
- Legos
- Game pieces, including dice
- Puzzle Pieces
- Crayon
- Shells
- Marbles
- Dominos
- Old pieces of costume jewelry (remove pins and discard sharp-edged pieces)
- Coins (pennies and dimes are smaller and harder to locate in the rice)
- Paper Clips
- Screws, Washers, Bolts
- Bobbins
- Ribbon. Lace
- Big Pasta Pieces
- Anything else you can fit in the bottle!

Lost Things Printable. Use this free printable to share the list of lost things your kids can find. You can also just give your kids the number of items to find and have them write down what they found.
How to Assemble Tinker Bell’s Lost Things Game
- Put lost things into clean, dry bottle. I wouldn’t fill the bottle over 1/3 or 1/4 full with lost things.
- Make list of lost things.
- Dye rice (optional).
- Using a funnel, pour rice into bottle until there is about one inch of space left at the top.
- Attach lid. If using the game with older kids you might not need to glue the top on but I would suggest gluing the top on if playing with younger kids.
- Play and seek lost things!
