Primo Piatto Review at Disney’s Riviera Resort

Disney World’s Riviera Resort’s quick service has to be one of the best on property. Primo Piatto is not your average quick service dining option. Even if you are not staying at the Riviera, take the Skyliner or bus over to Disney’s newest resort and indulge in some delicious eats.

Primo Piatto Review

Primo Piatto is located on the 1st floor of the main building. Mobile ordering is available and I would take advantage of that. I did not and there was only 1 register open at dinner time. The Cast Member at the little cafe section did come over and took some guests over to his register though which helped lessen the wait.

Primo Piatto Atmosphere

Primo Piatto is similar to Be Our Guest in that the food is delivered to your table on real plates and with real silverware. You do get your own drinks, refills, and condiments.

I love the view of the Skyliner while I dined and it just happened to be around sunset so that was gorgeous to watch while dining. After the sunset, the restaurant dimmed the lights and it made the atmosphere very romantic.

The kitchen is open so you can see the chefs prepare the food, it elevates the experience in my opinion.

How is the Food at Primo Piatto?

The food is not your average quick service dry burgers and chicken strips.

I ordered the Grilled Hanger Steak. The menu description reads “Medium Grilled Steak with a Red Wine Sauce and Balsamic Syrup served with Mascarpone Mashed Potatoes and Buttered Carrots”. I was very leery ordering a quick service steak, but I was surprised. The steak was grilled well and melt in your mouth delicious, the potatoes were good, and the carrots were ok. The carrots were a little more rustic than I would have liked. I am not sure if they were peeled so they were a little stringy.

I would order the steak again.

Another person in my party ordered the Riviera Burger. The menu description reads, “1/3 lb Grilled Signature-blend Burger with Brisket and Chuck topped with Provolone, Grilled Portobello, Caramelized Onions, Tomato, and Garlic-Mayonnaise on a Toasted Brioche Bun served with choice of Side.”

He was able to order the burger medium rare. He said the burger was very good with a lot of flavor. He ordered fries as a side. The fries were ok but nothing spectacular. They did have a herb seasoning and a little bit of cheese on the top of them. He also ordered an additional side of risotto. I tried some of that myself and it was pretty good.

Another person in my party ordered the Croque Monsieur. The menu description reads, “Classic French Ham and Swiss served with choice of Side”. The chosen side was tomato basil soup. The soup was very good, a bit more rustic and tasty than the soup offered at Pinocchio Haus. The sandwich was a little bit greasy but way better than the made and reheated version at the France pavilion quick service.

We did not order any desserts at this quick service as I wanted the special Cinderella ice cream offered at the Pineapple Lanai right now. Nikki from Favorite Grampy Travels did like the Lava Cake when she ordered take out from here.

If you are on the dining plan, this quick service dining location is a great deal. If you are paying out of pocket, it is a bit pricey.

I was little confused at the end of the meal because I saw people carrying their dishes to the bin and I also saw servers bussing the tables. We decided to bus our own table and a Cast Member approached us and told us they prefer to bus the table so we can enjoy our vacation more. I thought that was a nice touch.

I am excited to try the breakfast next, especially the Croque Madame and a few of the breakfast pizzas sound amazing!
