Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of my favorite resorts to visit while at Disney. Other than having a lot of fun activities around the resort, the resort has some of the best food offerings in all of Disney World. Mara is the quick service at the resort and offers so many tasty options.
Mara Quick Service Review
Mara in Swahili means instant. Fitting since it is a quick service.
Mara is located at the Animal Kingdom Lodge at the Jambo House. If you are not a guest at the Lodge then you can take a bus from your resort to the Animal Kingdom and then it is a quick bus ride from the park to the resort.
It is located on the first floor near the pool area. Once you enter the lobby go on an elevator on your right or take the stairs down to the first floor. Boma and Jiko are also located on the 1st floor. Go outside and follow the path on your left and you will find the Mara.
Mara has a lot of inside seating and a few covered tables outside.
Tip: While you are dining, charge your phone with your portable charger and enjoy chatting with your family and friends. Also, if you want to hang a park bag or purse off the table, check out these great Clipa2 Hooks!
Mara Breakfast
Other than Mara, you can find a quick-service breakfast at Sanaa.
The breakfast at Mara is not the star as many of the options can be found at other resorts. I did enjoy the fried egg, ham, and cheese sandwich served on a brioche (hamburger) bun. It was served with breakfast potatoes.
Another notable dish that is different than other quick services is the Bounty Platter. Mara’s comes with Scrambled Eggs, Potatoes, Bacon, Sausage, Pap (Grits) with Chakalaka (African Salsa) and a Mickey-shaped Waffle
Mara Lunch and Dinner
Lunch and dinner at Mara have a lot of great unique options that make this a great place to eat especially if you are park hopping.
Vegetarian Falafel Bites. This dish comes with garlic Hummus, Chickpea Falafel, Garlic Yogurt, Cucumber and Tomato Salad, Tabbouleh, Kalamata Olives, and Kulcha Bread. Kulcha is a type of mildly leavened flatbread that originated in the Indian subcontinent. My friends who tasted this dish said it was a little spicy.
Braai Chicken Flatbread. Freshly prepared Flatbread with a Sun-dried Tomato Pesto topped with Oak-fired Chicken pieces, Bacon, Red Onion, Mozzarella, and Saag Dahl Ranch Drizzle. I thought the flatbread was really good and flavorful.
Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Fried Chicken topped with Bacon, Buttermilk Ranch, and Leaf Lettuce on Artisanal Cheese Bread served with French Fries Crispy Chicken Sandwich. This meal is big enough for two people to split. It was very tasty. There is a sandwich topping area where you can add tomatoes, pickles, and other condiments to your sandwich.
Mixed Tomato Flatbread. Freshly prepared Flatbread topped with Vine-ripened Tomatoes, Roasted Garlic, Fresh Herb Ricotta Cheese, Artichokes, and Red Peppers.
Mara Desserts
One of the best desserts at Boma is offered at the quick service- Zebra Domes. They are so tasty! The bakery area also has some gorgeous Disney themed cupcakes.
Zebra Domes. Chocolate Mousse baked with Amarula Cream Liquor-coated White Chocolate drizzled with Chocolate Stripes and Chocolate Shavings
Jungle Juice Slushy. If you go to Boma for breakfast you get unlimited refills of their famous Jungle Juice. If you go to the quick service, they turn that delicious juice into a slushy! Jungle Juice is a mix of Passion, Orange and Guava Juices. It is also known as POG Juice which is also served at ‘Ohana.
Check out my recipe for a POG Juice Mimosa you can enjoy at home.
