Everything Little Mermaid at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World is a treasure trove of enchanting experiences, especially for fans of “The Little Mermaid.” From immersive attractions and interactive meet-and-greets to themed accommodations, there is something for everyone who dreams of being part of Ariel’s world. In this guide, we’ll explore all the must-see Little Mermaid-themed activities and attractions across Walt Disney World.

Where to Find Little Mermaid at Walt Disney World

Magic Kingdom

Disney’s Magic Kingdom is the main park you will want to visit if you are a Little Mermaid fan as there are more experiences here than at any other Disney park.

One part of Fantasyland is dedicated to The Little Mermaid. Be sure to explore the area around the Journey of the Little Mermaid and her Grotto. You can find King Triton, Prince Eric’s Castle, and even a statue of the Little Mermaid.

Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid. One of the most immersive experiences for any Little Mermaid fan is the “Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid” attraction located in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom. This dark ride takes guests on a magical journey through Ariel’s underwater world.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Immersive Queue: Before you even board the clamshell, you’ll walk through Prince Eric’s seaside castle, complete with shipwrecks and grottos filled with treasures. Scuttle will entertain you as you wait for your journey to begin.
  • Iconic Scenes: The ride features state-of-the-art audio-animatronics and vibrant scenes that bring the movie to life, including favorites like “Part of Your World” and “Kiss the Girl.” I always feel like I am really IN the movie. It is so amazing all the detail the Imagineers put into the ride.
  • Family-Friendly: It’s a gentle ride suitable for all ages and body sizes, making it a perfect experience for families.
  • Fun Fact: There is a Hidden Mickey you can see in the queue, but only for a select amount of time on a specific day each year. At exactly 12 p.m. Eastern on November 18 (Mickey’s birthday), some of the rock formations in the queue line up with the position of the sun to project a Hidden Mickey on the wall.

Meet Ariel at Her Grotto. Located right next to her journey under the sea is her grotto where you can meet her as a mermaid. She does sign autographs at this location.

Catch Ariel in the Festival of Fantasy Parade. The Little Mermaid float is one of my favorites from the Festival of Fantasy Parade. It is so elaborate and fun! Ariel and her pals perch on a vibrant, kinetic seashell music box, creating a delightful musical celebration. The Under the Sea float is full of whimsy, with conga-dancing fish showing off their moves and bubbles floating everywhere. The performers, dressed as Lion Fish, Coral Fish, Seashells, and Sea Horses, wear shimmering fabrics and intricately designed costumes that look straight off the runway.

Mickey’s Philharmagic. Journey into Ariel’s treasure trove cavern and “catch” her jewels in this 3d show where you feel like you are swimming with Ariel.

Hollywood Studios

The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure. “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure,” a fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic “The Little Mermaid,” will debut in the newly refreshed Animation Courtyard theater in fall 2024.

When it opens, the show will feature stunning new set pieces, cutting-edge effects, and a bold new design that captures Ariel’s imagination and emotions through her unique view of the world around her.

Disney Concept Art

Meet Ariel from Disney’s Live Action Little Mermaid. As you wander through Walt Disney Presents, you’ll discover a curated collection of concept art from the live-action story—stunning illustrations that follow Ariel’s journey from sea to land. You can then meet Ariel in the Walt Disney Presents attraction. She is on the terrace of Prince Eric’s castle, where she waits eagerly to hear tales of your latest adventures.

EPCOT

Akershus. Akershus Banquet Hall opens its doors for a feast in honor of beloved storybook princesses—and you’re invited! Dine in a medieval castle where you’ll encounter a royal promenade of princess friends who can’t wait to meet you.

Art of Animation Resort

For an immersive Little Mermaid experience, consider staying at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. The resort offers themed rooms that make you feel like you’re living under the sea.

Little Mermaid Rooms. The Little Mermaid section features rooms adorned with themed decor, from shell-inspired headboards to underwater murals.

Photo Opps. Even if you are not staying at the Art of Animation, hop over to the resort on a rest day and check out the larger than life Little Mermaid statues in the mermaid resort area.

Top Walt Disney World Tips for Little Mermaid Fans

1. Disneybound as Ariel

Dress in outfits inspired by Ariel’s iconic looks. Think green skirts or pants to mimic her tail, purple tops for her seashell bra, and add red accessories to represent her hair. Don’t forget comfortable shoes for a day of walking! I love this Gold Conch Shell necklace on Amazon, it’s perfect!

2. Utilize Disney’s Multipass Lightning Lane Service

Be sure to book Lightning Lanes for popular Little Mermaid attractions to minimize wait times. Please note that using the Lightning Lane will have you missing the interactive queue at Journey of the Little Mermaid. Once The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure begins it will be a popular experience.

3. Book Dining Experiences Early

Character dining experiences, especially at Cinderella’s Royal Table and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, can fill up quickly, so make reservations in advance. If you are a client of mine, I handle all of this for you so you can just enjoy your vacation.
