Everything You Need to Know: Liberty Square

Liberty Square is one of the most overlooked lands in the Magic Kingdom. Today I am going to share with you everything you need to know about Liberty Square including attractions, dining, shopping, tips, and fun facts!

Liberty Square at the Magic Kingdom

Between Frontierland and Fantasyland, you will find Liberty Square. It is designed to look like the United States in 1776.

Fun fact about Liberty Square’s walkway, the brown strip of pavement represents sewage of early Americans.  In traditional Revolutionary times, no indoor plumbing existed, so many people would take their waste and dump it from their windows into the streets outside.

Liberty Square Attractions

The Hall of Presidents – The show was updated in 2017. The show tells the history of our country, showcasing significant presidential moments. At the end of the show, all of the animatronic presidents stand up or wave as their name is called out. It is a really educational experience.

Show Tips: This attraction has the possibility of being busy during the afternoon in the summer as a lot of people tend to want a break from the heat. Even if you don’t want to see the show, take a moment to go inside and see all the artifacts that the gallery has. A Cast Member usually shares trivia about the items.

The Haunted Mansion  – Happy haunts — 999 to be exact — welcome ghoulish-loving guests to The Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World Resort with a doom buggy full of tricks and treats in the eerie gothic manor. A Magic Kingdom classic, The Haunted Mansion is one of the most beloved attractions at Walt Disney World Resort and has been eliciting all-in-fun chills and shrieks since Walt Disney World Resort opened its gates Oct. 1, 1971.

Attraction Tips: Try to get a Fastpass+ for this ride, most of the time you can get one after your first three choices. If you aren’t able to get a Fastpass, most of the wait is shaded and has an interactive queue once you get close to the entrance. Though the premise of The Haunted Mansion is a frightful one, the ride is intended for the entire family. Some little ones may get a little scared in the first room where there is a loud scream and the lights go out. Look for Hidden Mickeys on this ride. The ballroom scene features one of the most famous — a plate and a pair of saucers on the dining table form Mickey Mouse’s familiar silhouette.

Liberty Square Riverboat – Take off on a scenic half-mile adventure into the wilds of old America aboard a steam-powered paddler wheeler. Board the Colonial-American-inspired, 3-tiered Liberty Belle Riverboat. The boat circles Tom Sawyer’s Island.

Attraction Tips: This ride does not need a Fastpass+. If you are looking for an extended experience on the Riverboat, there is a special Festival of Fantasy viewing party called Tiana’s Riverboat Party.  It is an ice cream party with Tiana and Prince Naveen and then you get a special viewing of the parade from the boat.

Liberty Square Dining

Columbia Harbour House – This is a quick-service restaurant serving fish, clam chowder, chicken, sandwiches, and more. The lobster mac and cheese is really good. There are 2 stories of indoor seating.

Diamond Horseshoe – This is a table-service restaurant that is an all you care to enjoy meal. The show-stopping, all-you-care-to-enjoy feast opens with a zesty salad, followed by a plentiful platter of flavorful entrees to choose from: BBQ pulled pork, sliced turkey, country smoked sausage or braised beef.

Sleepy Hollow – Sleepy Hollow has the best quick-service breakfast in the Magic Kingdom! They have waffle sandwiches including the famous Nutella and fruit waffle. They also serve funnel cakes and beverages.

Liberty Square Market– The market stand is a great place to get fresh fruit, bags of chips, a hot dog, turkey legs, or bottled beverages. There is some outdoor seating.

Liberty Tree Tavern –  Colonial style table -service dining location that offers delicious lunch offerings and an all-you-care-to-eat dinner Thanksgiving feast all year round. The dinner is served family-style.  The all-you-care-to-enjoy Patriot’s Platter is piled high with roasted turkey breast, pot roast, carved pork roast, and accompanied by traditional sides. Advanced Dining Reservations are encouraged.

Liberty Square Gift Shops

Liberty Square has two of my favorite Disney places to shop, Memento Mori and the Ye Old Christmas Shoppe. Memento Mori has everything Haunted Mansion. The Ye Old Christmas Shoppe is where you can find Christmas ornaments, tree skirts, and other Christmas items. There is a carriage outside of the Christmas store that is a great place to take some pictures for a Christmas card.

There is the Liberty Square Parasol Cart. This cart is especially popular on Dapper Day weekends. You can have your parasol personalized too!

Right next to the Christmas Shop you will find a cart that offers silhouette drawings.

Hi April Thanks for the tips on Liberty Square. I must admit I know most of them, but, didn't realise you can go in the Hall of Presidents even though I have been to Magic Kingdom many times. I am going back in nine weeks with my daughter, and, two of my grandchildren so will make sure we go inside the Hall. Best Wishes Ann
