Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

The best time to resort hop at Disney is at Christmas. All of the resorts are dressed up their prettiest and all of them have elaborate trees each themed to the resort. The masterpiece of the Grand Floridian though is the very ornate Gingerbread House.

The Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

The Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is almost 2 stories high. The details are perfect. During select times you are able to see a demonstration of how they made certain parts of it and can also sample some gingerbread. If the sample wasn’t enough (which it never is) you can buy some gingerbread from the little shop set up INSIDE of the Gingerbread house. I think that is super cool!

The life-sized gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is made with more than 10,000 individual gingerbread shingles. Disney bakers spend more than 500 hours baking the gingerbread and another 480 hours building and decorating the house.

The Grand Floridian gingerbread house is made with 1,050 pounds of honey, 700 pounds of chocolate, 600 pounds of sugar, 35 pounds of spices, and 800 pounds of flour.

How do I get to the Grand Floridian Resort?

You can not park at Disney’s Grand Floridian resort without a dining or resort reservation. If you are wanting to visit this resort, the best way is to either park at the Ticket & Transportation Center and take the resort monorail or park at Disney Springs and take a bus to the Grand Floridian. If you are coming from another Disney resort that is not on the monorail loop, then simply take a bus to the Magic Kingdom and there is boat or monorail transportation to the resort.
