Ohana means family and this Lilo inspired ornament is one you can share on your family Christmas tree. This DIY Lilo ornament inspired by Disney’s Lilo & Stitch is simple to make and so cute!

DIY Lilo Ornament
Lilo is such a lovable character. Why do I love her? She struggles to fit in because of her struggles at home. When she finds Stitch, she finds someone who understands her. Coming from an abusive home, I find I relate to Lilo.
Did you know that Lilo’s last name is Pelekai? “Lilo” can mean “lost” or “the generous one” in Hawaiian, hence her generosity to others in the series, and possibly her loneliness.
Materials to Make Ornament
For this DIY Disney Lilo ornament, you will need a few simple supplies and a hot glue gun.
- Floor Finish
- Glass Ornament
- Printable Leaf pattern
- Red Glitter
- White Glitter Foam
- Black Paint Marker or Sharpie
Glass ornaments provide much better results than plastic. I have used plastic in the past but really love how pretty the glass ornaments turn out!
If you don’t have a glue gun you can also try superglue. They sell cheap superglue at the Dollar Tree. If using superglue, you will want to hold the leaves in place for like 30 seconds.
How to Make a Disney’s Lilo Christmas Ornament
Step 1 – Prep the Ornament. First, take the top off the ornament. You will want to clean the inside of the ornament. To clean the ornament pour a little bit of rubbing alcohol into the ornament. Swish it around it a bit and then let dry. It will dry up quickly.
Step 2 – Add Floor Finish. Pour in a small amount of floor finish, about a tablespoon.

Step 3 – Swirl. Swirl the floor finish around in the ornament until the entire inside of the ornament is covered. Turn the ornament upside down and drain out any excess.
Step 4 – Add Glitter. Carefully pour in your glitter and again swirl that around and drain any excess.

Step 5 – Make the White Leaves. We’re modeling the ornament after Lilo’s dress so in order to make your leaves you can take a piece of foam and trace those shapes onto the foam. You can choose to free-hand it or print the stencil I provided.
Step 6 – Glue Leaves onto the Ornament. Cut out your leaves and you will glue the stars onto the ornament using the hot glue gun.
Step 7 – Ready to Hang! Replace your ornament lid, add a hook or ribbon, and display it on your tree.
