Disney Christmas Movies List + Free Printable

Disney has the best movies and Christmas is the best time of the year. Here is the ultimate list of the best Disney Christmas movies and shorts to help get you in the Christmas mood. Disney has more than just these Christmas shorts, movies, and specials but these are the most popular and also my favorite. Many of these Christmas movies are on Disney+.

1. Olaf’s Frozen Adventure (2017) 

Available on Disney+ and on the Freeform App.

This animated short originally appeared before Coco but moviegoers were a little upset that the short was a 22-minute cartoon instead of the 5-6 minute short we are used to. I adore Olaf’s Frozen Adventure as it shows more of Olaf’s heart. Olaf goes door to door trying to find Anna and Elsa a holiday tradition that they can share. The short has lots of cute lines and beautiful songs.

2. Babes in Toyland (1961)

Live-action movie. Tom the Piper’s Son is about to marry Mary Quite Contrary. On the eve of their wedding, evil miser Barnaby hires two henchmen to drown Tom and steal Mary’s sheep, cared for by Little Bo Peep, thus depriving Mary and the children she lives with of their livelihood, forcing her to marry Barnaby.

3. Mickey’s Christmas Carol (1983)

Animated movie sharing the story of the famous Christmas Carol with favorite Disney characters playing the roles.

4. One Magic Christmas (1985)

This live-action movie is a real treat! I try to watch this movie every year. Ginny (Mary Steenburgen) has a difficult time mustering Christmas spirit due to her husband Jack’s unemployment and her humble position as a grocery store clerk. An angel and Ginny’s daughter help Ginny get her faith back through some magical events.

5. The Christmas Star (1986)

The Christmas Star can be found on Disney+.

Made for television movie. A con man, Horace, (Edward Asner) escapes from prison in a Santa Claus suit and meets two children who believe in him. Will Horace change his ways and understand the true meaning of Christmas?

6. Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too (1991)

When Christopher Robin writes a letter to Santa and forgets to add what Pooh wanted for Christmas, Pooh tries to get the letter back, and subsequently redeliver the letter to the North Pole. This movie comes and goes on Netflix. It looks like it is unavailable to buy at this time. 

7. The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)

The Muppets perform the classic Dickens holiday tale, with Kermit the Frog playing Bob Cratchit, the put-upon clerk of stingy Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine). Other Muppets — Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear and Sam the Eagle — weave in and out of the story, while Scrooge receives visits from spirits of three Christmases — past, present and future. They show him the error of his self-serving ways, but the miserable old man seems to be past any hope of redemption and happiness.

8. The Santa Clause (1994)

Live-action comedy starring Tim Allen, who unwittingly becomes Santa Claus. Becoming Santa throws this real life in chaos and his journey to be Santa touches everyone in his life. This is a great family favorite! 

9. Beauty and the Beast- The Enchanted Christmas (1997)

An animated movie showing what a Christmas was like at the Beast’s castle while still under the enchantment. Lots of beautiful songs in this movie! 

This movie is available on Disney+.

10. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Some people think this movie is just for Halloween but I think it is for both seasons. Jack Skellington learns about Christmas when he tries to take over Christmas town.

11. I’ll Be Home for Christmas (1998)

This is a live-action comedy starring Jonathan Taylor Thomas. The movie is about an 18-year-old boy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) who tries to make it home for Christmas in order to receive a vintage car from his father. 

12. Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas (1999)

Mickey and his friends tell three stories including “A Very Goofy Christmas”, “Donald Duck: Stuck on Christmas”, and “Mickey and Minnie’s Gift of the Magi.” 

My favorite story of this bunch is the Goofy Christmas one. The tale does a great job of showing how big Goofy’s heart really is and how strong his relationship with Max is.

13. The Ultimate Christmas Present (2000)

This is an Disney Channel Original movie that is on Disney+.

Two girls’ plan to close school by making it snow by stealing a weather machine once owned by Santa in Los Angeles jeopardizes Christmas.

14. ‘Twas the Night (2001)

This is a Disney Channel Original movie that is on Disney+. A 14-year-old boy and his uncle (Bryan Cranston) jeopardize Christmas when they take Santa’s sleigh for a joy ride.

15. The Santa Clause 2- The Mrs. Clause (2002)

In this live-action continuation of the Santa Clause, Santa (Tim Allen) finds out he has to get married or he can’t stay Santa. Since he can’t be two places at once a “fake” Santa is created that creates havoc at the North Pole.

16. Winnie the Pooh- A Very Merry Pooh Year (2002)

 It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but Rabbit will only discover the true spirit of the season after his pals make misguided New Year’s resolutions to change – with hilarious and heartfelt results! 

17. Eloise at Christmas Time (2003)

I think this is one of Disney’s most underrated Christmas movies. Eloise lives in the Plaza with her Nanny (Julie Andrews) and tries to spread Christmas cheer to all at the hotel, including two former lovebirds and a seemingly grumpy older lady.

18. Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas (2004)

Animated movie containing 3 Disney shorts. The shorts include “Belles of Ice,” in which Daisy Duck and Minnie Mouse’s friendship comes under strain during an ice skating competition; “Christmas Impossible,” where Huey, Dewey and Louie travel to the North Pole to try to remove themselves from Santa’s naughty list; and “Mickey’s Dog-Gone Christmas,” in which Pluto runs away from home after ruining Mickey Mouse’s Christmas decorations. This is one of my favorite animated Disney Christmas movies.  

19. The Santa Clause 3 – The Escape Clause (2006)

This live-action continuation of the Santa Clause saga is pretty good, but not my favorite. 

20. A Christmas Carol (2009)

Live action movie that is rated PG. Though London awaits the joyful arrival of Christmas, miserly Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) thinks it’s all humbug, berating his faithful clerk and cheerful nephew for their view. Later, Scrooge encounters the ghost of his late business partner, who warns that three spirits will visit him this night. The ghosts take Scrooge on a journey through his past, present and future in the hope of transforming his bitterness. 

21. Santa Buddies (2009)

This movie is rated G and is a cute movie for kids. Budderball, B-Dawg, Rosebud, Buddha, and Mudbud help Puppy Paws, the feisty son of Santa Paws, to remember the true meaning of Christmas.

22. Prep & Landing (2009) Animated TV Short.

Wayne gets a new rookie partner, Lanny, after his previous partner got the promotion he wanted. Lanny has to remind Wayne of the Spirit of Christmas and the importance of being an elf in Santa’s Prep and Landing elite unit.

23. Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation! (2009)

A special Christmas-themed episode of the animated television series Phineas and Ferb. I just got into the show of Phineas and Ferb ( I missed so much) and had to add this episode to my Disney Christmas movie list. 

24. The Search for Santa Paws (2010)

Live-action movie. A talking dog and an orphan (Kaitlyn Maher) must save Christmas after old Saint Nick (Richard Riehle) loses his memory.

25. Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice (2011)

Animated TV Short. Lanny and Wayne race to recover classified North Pole technology. 

26. Toy Story That Time Forgot (2014)

Animated TV Short. It’s a post-Christmas play date and the toys have to go up against the fearsome and aggressive new dino toys. 

27. The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018)

This is a Disney Live-Action movie coming to Disney+ in early December 2020. Young Clara needs a magical, one-of-a-kind key to unlock a box that contains a priceless gift. A golden thread leads her to the coveted key, but it soon disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. In that world, she meets a soldier named Phillip, a group of mice, and the regents who preside over three realms. Clara and Phillip must now enter a fourth realm to retrieve the key and restore harmony to the unstable land.

28. Noelle (2019)

Noelle is a Disney+ Original Movie that will debut when the Disney+ Service start on November 12th, 2019.

In Disney+’s holiday comedy “Noelle,” Kris Kringle’s daughter is full of Christmas spirit and holiday fun, but wishes she could do something “important” like her beloved brother Nick, who will take over from their father this Christmas. When Nick is about to crumble like a gingerbread cookie from all the pressure, Noelle suggests he take a break and get away…but when he doesn’t return, Noelle must find her brother and bring him back in time to save Christmas.
