Adorable Cinderella Puppet Craft

Cinderella is a picture of grace, courage, and kindness. All those traits are great for little ones to model. Put on a few Cinderella Puppet shows with this adorable Cinderella Puppet Craft. The puppet is made from simple materials like paper and a paper bag. A free printable template is included.

Did you know that there are quite a few Disney Cinderella movies to watch? They are all available on Disney+! They are:

  • Cinderella (1950)
  • Cinderella II: Dreams Come True
  • Cinderella III: A Twist in Time
  • Live Action Cinderella (2015)

In addition to those movies, Cinderella (1997) is a live-action movie produced by the Wonderful World of Disney with Whitney Houston, Brandy, and Whoopi Goldberg. I also enjoy A Cinderella Story (2004) even though it is NOT a Disney movie.

How to Make a Cinderella Paper Bag Puppet

While most of this project is preschool friendly some children will need help with cutting. An adult should trace the templates on the colored paper ahead of time for little ones. Preschool cutting skills are important to learn and child-made cuts give Cinderella’s dress more style. Every child is an artist according to Picasso.

Step 1: Select colored craft papers for the Cinderella paper figure. You’ll need colored paper for the skin tone, yellow craft paper for the hair pattern, and 2 different shades of blue for the dress and the accessory patterns. Trace and cut out the patterns from the selected craft papers.

Step 2: Cut a slit along the zigzag line (yellow pattern) inside the hair pattern. Slide the top end of the head cutout through the slit from below. Apply glue to attach the head and hair patterns together.

Step 3: Attach the headband cutout on the hair part, below the bun part of the hair.

Step 4: Glue the earring cutouts (small round cutouts) on the ear parts of the head pattern. Use a marker to draw the eyes, nose, and mouth-line of the Cinderella paper figure.

Step 5: You can trace and cut out the dress patterns from our template or you can draw dress patterns of your own according to the size of the bag. Attach the dress patterns on the dress base cutout.

Step 6: Select a brown paper bag or craft your own paper bag from brown paper or craft paper. You can customize the dress design according to the size of the bag.

Step 7: Attach the dress pattern on the flap side of the paper bag (so Cinderella can “talk”), keeping the bottom side of the bag along the open side of the paper bag. Attach the arm cutouts with the sleeve cutouts.

Step 8: Attach the head pattern on the bottom side of the paper bag and flatten it with the dress part.

Step 9: Attach the hand patterns on both sides of the bag to complete.

Make the sisters too! Anastasia and Drizella are Cinderella’s evil step sisters. For Drizella’s dress, you would need 2 shades of green since she is filled with envy. For Anastasia’s dress, you would need 2 shades of red/burgundy or purple since she is red with rage.

Add Glitter! One of the best parts about Cinderella is her sparkly dress. Sprinkle some glitter or sequins on the dress to really make it shine.

Put on a Show. Make a castle backdrop and let your children play out the Cinderella stories.

As always, ShopDisney has a great selection of Disney Princess items to continue the play!
