The Mermaids of Weeki Wachee State Park

Disclaimer: I received complimentary tickets in exchange for review. All opinions are my own.

When you visit Disney, you get to see Ariel. Ariel has a ride, a character meeting spot, and a spot in the Festival of Fantasy Parade. Do you get wrapped up in the under the sea world? Then you must make a stop at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park in Spring Hill, FL.

Nestled in the heart of Florida’s natural wonders, Weeki Wachee State Park is a hidden gem that promises enchantment beneath the surface. Home to the iconic Weeki Wachee mermaids, this unique attraction blends nature and fantasy seamlessly.

Weeki Wachee is a great Florida state park that has mermaid shows, a great riverboat tour,  a wildlife show, and Buccaneer Bay. This park, which includes a great water park, is budget-friendly too! The price of admission is just $13.00 for adults, $8.00 for kids ages 6-12, and children 5 and under are free. Plus, parking is free! There are discounts for the military as well. Weeki Wachee hours are short though as they are only open from 9 am to 5:30 pm. Get there early to enjoy everything they have to offer. Find out more here.

Weeki Wachee Mermaid Shows

Weeki Wachee has two great mermaid shows, which are included in the admission price.  This was my first time seeing these shows. The first show, a summer special, is called Songs of Summer. It is a great show. You sit in a theater and the curtain is over the aquarium.  I do not think there is a bad seat in the place. In the Songs of Summer show, the mermaids dance to several summer golden oldies. Other than great dancing, you see someone eat a banana under water and drink a coke. Between numbers, the inside video monitors have interviews with the mermaids and they give you a tour of the aquarium and how they breathe. It is was very interesting!

The second mermaid show is The Little Mermaid. Weeki Wachee Springs retells the Hans Christian Anderson version. It is a very good retelling with beautiful music. A couple parts made me jump, so this would not be appropriate for very small children. I could watch this show over and over again. Part of the show is inside on the stage. Each of the shows are about 20 minutes in length.

Have you ever been to Weeki Wachee, which mermaid show did you like better?
