Inspired by Academy-award-winning filmmaker James Cameron’s box-office hit, “AVATAR,” the new 12-acre land will immerse guests in the lush world of Pandora about a generation after the film’s human-Na’vi conflict.

What to Do at Pandora – The World of Avatar

The magical new land will transport guests to a mystical world of bioluminescent rainforests, floating mountains and soaring Banshees. Two main adventures will beckon Disney’s Animal Kingdom guests:

Flight of Passage – Riding a magnificent Mountain Banshee, guests will soar across Pandora on Avatar Flight of Passage. This high-tech adventure will offer a thrilling flight through the jungles and floating mountains, and over the majestic oceans of this colorful world. The ride is like Soarin’ on steroids!

Na’vi River Journey – On the family-friendly Na’vi River Journey guests will sail down a sacred river hidden within a glowing rainforest. The expedition will end in an unforgettable encounter with a Na’vi Shaman, a figure who has a deep connection to the life force of Pandora.

Avatar Land Dining – Guests will also be able to dine at Satu’li Canteen or grab a drink at Pongu Pongu. If you are looking for normal theme park food in Pandora, you will be disappointed. They do not serve burgers and fries.

The best dishes are the combination bowls in which you choose the combo- beef, shrimps, tofu, or chicken, You choose the base and the sauce. If you are looking for a hamburger, you can find cheeseburger steamed pods (Bao Buns) served with slaw and vegetable chips.

Character Interactions – Guests can interact with a towering mechanical suit inspired by the Avatar film.  The new Pandora Utility Suit is inspired by the iconic Amplified Mobility Platform (AMP) suits of power armor from the epic film AVATAR.

Perched ten feet high, a human pilot straps into the cockpit of this exo-carrier and controls its powerful, yet agile movements. The giant walking suit was designed with articulated hands and a shoulder span of more than five feet. It also bears claw marks and battle scars from a Thanator – an alpha predator on Pandora.

But the Pandora Utility Suit was actually designed for restoration, while the film’s AMP suits were created for infantry missions of destruction. Its streamlined structure and technical upgrades make it the perfect tool to collect plant samples, study flora and survive Pandora’s wild terrain.

Like all the lands at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Pandora is rooted in nature. The Pandora Utility Suit showcases that in dramatic fashion. As the suit traverses the land daily, its pilot will interact with guests, share details about the land’s otherworldly landscape, and highlight the importance of preserving nature.

How to Ride the New Pandora Rides – You need to Fastpass both rides if you can. If you can’t Fastpass the Na’vi River journey, that is ok the wait is usually just around 90 minutes so not as long as the wait for Flight of Passage.

For Flight of Passage, you will need to rope drop this ride. Get the park right at opening or about 30 minutes before because the line starts early. If you don’t do this the waits can get to 2+ hours. The ride is awesome and you will not want to miss it. Another way to get on Flight of Passage with a shorter wait time is to get in line about 30 minutes before park closing. As long as you are past the line entrance you are able to ride even if you don’t get on until after the park officially closes.

Satu’li Canteen Tips – Order your food ahead of time with Mobile Ordering through the My Disney Experience App. All of the food is really good.  My favorite entree is the create your own Satu’li bowl.

Don’t Miss Pandora at Night – Pandora is pretty during the day, but is absolutely gorgeous at night! The combination of the sounds and the bioluminescent lightning make it really feel like you are not on Earth anymore.

Budget for a Banshee – If you or your child is a huge Avatar fan, you will want a Banshee. You adopt a Banshee that chooses you. It is a fun process, the price is around $50 a banshee.
