What’s Needed to Make Moana Chocolate Covered Oreos

SUPPLIES NEEDED
Cookie mold

Parchment paper or silicon mat

INGREDIENTS NEEDED
12 Oreos – I used the Winter variety with red icing but you can use any variety.
1 cup Wilton white chocolate melts or vanilla almond bark
Wilton red candy decorating pen or icing gel

How to Make Moana Inspired Chocolate Covered Oreos

1.   Line a baking sheet with wax or parchment paper and set aside.

2.  In a medium microwave-safe bowl, microwave the white candy melts for 45 seconds. Remove from microwave and stir. Continue to microwave in 10-second increments until the candy is mostly melted.

Let your melted candy stand in the microwave for 30 to 60 seconds before removing it. This lets the leftover heat from the bowl melt any remaining candy. Continue stirring or kneading to better distribute any residual heat. When candy is nice and smooth, it’s ready to use.

3.   Fill each mold with 2 tablespoons of melted white chocolate.  Place an Oreo cookie on top and then spoon additional melted chocolate over the Oreos, up to the top of the molds.

4.  Chill for 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.

5.   Once chilled, gently pop each cookie out of the mold and place them on the lined baking sheet.

6.   With your candy pan or red decorator gel, pipe the Moana logo on top of each cookie. This is inspired by the design on her boat.

7.   ENJOY!!

Chocolate Covered Oreos Tips

  • NEVER add water when melting chocolate. The chocolate will become lumpy and unmanageable.
  • Did you burn the chocolate? Try adding a teaspoon of coconut or vegetable oil to fix the chocolate.
  • Spray your Spoon. Before using your spoon to cover the Oreos, lightly spray the spoon with cooking spray. This will prevent the chocolate from sticking to the spoon.
  • Design Practice. Before making the circle design on the Oreos try a few out on some wax or parchment paper.
  • Best Storage Practice. Chocolate-covered Oreos last 2-3 weeks when stored in an airtight container at room temperature.
