Ultimate Guide to Fantasyland at Disney World

When you enter Fantasyland, you walk straight into the land of enchantment. Princesses, fairytales, and everything impossible. This ultimate guide to Fantasyland shares all the attractions, characters, dining, and shopping options in the largest land at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. I have also included my top tips for Fantasyland. 

Guide to Fantasyland

Fantasyland is huge and is divided up in the following sections: The Enchanted Forest, Storybook Circus, and the Castle Courtyard. You could easily spend two days just in Fantasyland. 

Castle Courtyard Fantasyland Attractions

Mickeys Philharmagic: Mickey’s Philharmagic is a 3d/4d animated show that showcases several classic animated Disney movies such as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Peter Pan. The show is indoors. You never need a Fastpass for this ride and is a great way to catch a midday break. 

Peter Pans Flight: Peter Pan’s Flight is one of the most popular rides in the Magic Kingdom. You travel in a slow-moving, flying Pirate Ship through Peter Pan’s story. You will want a Fastpass for this ride if it is a priority for you. The queue is interactive if you do happen to have to wait in the standby line. The ride is short but I consider it a must-do. 

It’s a Small World: This is a classic Disney World ride that is similar to the original in Disneyland. This is a slow-moving boat ride that takes you through a tour of the world in the form of dancing and singing dolls dressed in their cultural outfits. 

Cinderella’s Carousel: This a traditional carousel that is themed for Cinderella. No Fastpass is available. Most of the time the wait is not horrible but a lot of it is out in the sun.  

The Enchanted Forrest Attractions 

Enchanted Tales with Belle: Enchanted Tales with Belle is an awesome interactive show. Adults and children alike can take part in Belle’s retelling of her story. In the end, show participants and anyone else who would like to can get their picture with Belle. This is not a regular meet and greet. 

Winnie the Pooh: This is a short ride that takes you through a Winnie the Pooh Story. It is such a cute ride. You can usually get a Fastpass for this ride after you use your first three. The queue is interactive with lots of activities that will keep little ones busy in case you don’t score a Fastpass. 

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: This is a fun, smooth coaster featuring the Seven Dwarfs. You will want a Fastpass for this ride as the waits can get upwards of 2 hours. The queue is interactive once you get inside. definitely a Magic-Kingdom must-do. 

Under the Sea: Journey of The Little Mermaid: Jump in a slow-moving clamshell through Ariel’s story. This is one of my favorite rides. It is well done and makes me feel like I jumped into the movie. Fastpass+ is available but can usually be gotten the day of or as a 4th after you use your top picks. The queue is interactive and quite fun and mostly indoors. 

Mad Tea Party: Spin around in your very own Tea Cup in this classic ride. You control how fast the cup spins with the spinner inside the cup. The wait is usually around 30-45 minutes on a busy day. Fastpass+ is available but can usually be gotten the day of or as a 4th after you use your top picks. 

Storybook Circus Attractions

Let’s go to the circus at Disney!

Dumbo: Classic slow moving spinning ride. Control how high Dumbo flies with controls in front. There are 2 rides for this attraction and that has made the wait time low. They have added an indoor play area for you to wait in as well. Fastpass+ is available but you don’t really need it. 

Barnstormer: This is a one-minute long junior coaster. Somewhat bumpy but very fun. The line can get long and the whole line is outdoors with very little shade. Fastpass+ is available and usually, you can get this Fastpass later in the day. 

Fantasyland Characters

There are so many characters to meet in Fantasyland. I have listed the ones that make regular appearances. Sometimes lots of other characters popup like Pearla & Suzy or the Tweedles. Check the times guides for the times the characters will be out for the day you are visiting.

Princess Fairytale Hall

Cinderella and Elena of Avalor meet together. Rapunzel and Tiana meet together. All of the princesses sign autographs. The wait is indoors if you do not happen to have Fastpasses. Unless it is a super busy day I rarely see the wait over 45 minutes.

Ariel’s Grotto 

Ariel has her very own meeting spot. You can get a Fastpass+ to meet her. She does sign autographs. Her grotto is right next to her ride. Ariel still has her fins in this meet and greet. If you are wanting to meet her with legs, you need to visit the Bon Voyage Character Breakfast.

Winnie the Pooh & Tigger

Winnie the Pooh & Tigger have a regular spot to the left of their ride. There is no Fastpass+ option. They do sign autographs. Their wait can get long, maybe 45+ minutes. The wait is partly shaded with umbrellas.

Storybook Circus Characters

Goofy, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Pluto are not in their regular outfits at this location. They are super fun to meet at this location because they play to their surroundings which are circus-themed. No Fastpass+ is available for these characters and they all sign autographs.

Characters Out and About

• Gaston: You can find him to the right of Bonjour Gifts. He starts meeting with guests at 10 am. No Fastpass+ available. He does sign autographs.
• Fairy Godmother: You will find her either near the Fantasyland turrets or right behind the castle. No Fastpass+ available. She does sign autographs.
• Tremaine Sisters: You will find them either near the Fantasyland turrets or right behind the castle. No Fastpass+ available. They do sign autographs.
• Peter Pan: Sometimes he is just out and about in Fantasyland having fun with guests. He also does a regular meet & greet behind his ride.
• Alice: You will find Alice in front of the Mad Tea Party.
• Merida: To the right of the front of the castle you will find Merida’s meeting place. No Fastpass+ available. She does sign autographs.

Fantasyland Dining

Be Our Guest Restaurant: Be Our Guest is both a quick service and a table service restaurant in Fantasyland. It is quick service for breakfast and lunch and then turns into a 2 credit dining place for dinner with a Prix fare menu. No matter when you dine, advanced dining reservations are needed.

Cheshire Café: This is a small stand located near the Mad Tea Party. They sell the delicious Chesire Cat Tail and some delicious cold drinks!

Cinderella’s Royal Table: Dine with Princesses in the Castle! this meal is prepaid if you are not on the Disney Dining Plan.

The Friar’s Nook: Located in the Castle Courtyard, this walk-up counter serves the best tot dishes and some yummy hot dogs. There is some outdoor seating under the shade.

Gaston’s Tavern: Gaston Tavern has a fun, rustic, manly feel. You will find the famous LARGE cinnamon rolls and LeFou’s Brew.

Pinocchio Village Haus: If you are looking for quick service Italian eats, this is the place to go in the Magic Kingdom. The flatbreads are so good! There is lots of seating indoors and quite a bit outside as well. The tables have umbrellas.

Prince Eric’s Village Market: Small cart across from Under the Seas: Voyage of the Little Mermaid. The best treats there are turkey legs, jumbo pretzels, and a Little Mermaid themed donut and the Witch’s Brew.

Storybook Treats: If you are craving ice cream and looking for the fun character cones, this is the place to be.

Fantasyland Shopping

• Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique: Children aged 3-12 years old can get magical transformations from Fairy Godmothers in Training. This experience needs to be booked early and this location is located in Cinderella Castle so it is harder to get into. There is another location in Disney Springs and they are making another location inside of the Grand Floridian.
• Big Top Souvenirs: A large gift shop with and candy counter in the center. Lots of plush toys, pins, and shirts. If you are looking for Dumbo merchandise you have a better chance of finding it here.
• Bonjour! Village Gifts: Lots of Belle merchandise. The gift shop also has other Disney Princess items.
• Casey Jr. RailRoad Mercantile: Small kiosk inside of the Storybook Circus near the water play area that sells towels and other sundries.
• Castle Couture: Princess and Prince Centered Gift shop located right next to the caste.
• Fantasy Faire: Small gift shop near the exit of Phiharmagic. You will find an array of themed hats and headwear—including Mickey Ears, which you can even have personalized.
• Hundred Acre Goods: Small gift shop found at the exit of the Winne the Pooh ride. Everything in the store is Winnie the Pooh themed.
• Sir Mickey’s: Sir Mickey’s is the gift shop that you find once you exit Princess Fairytale Hall. You will find lots of princess-themed items here.

Fantasyland Tips & Secrets

1. Get Pixie Dusted for Free. Inside of the Castle Couture gift shop, you can get pixie dusted for free.
2. There are 2 castles in Fantasyland. Cinderella Castle and the Beast’s Castle. Though you can’t go inside the Beast’s Castle you can get a picture with it.
3. Tangled Bathrooms. The Tangled bathroom area is amazing! It is so themed. Look on the ground for Maximus’ hoofprints and they will lead to his apples. You can see Rapunzel’s tower and there are so many details to see in this area. At nighttime, there is a lantern shot that is beautiful!
4. Royal Majesty Makers. Fantasyland has the Royal Majesty Makers wandering around during the day. They are super fun to interact with. A couple of times during the day they put on a show at the Sword in the Stone display in front of the Carousel.
5. Aurora’s Dress. In the Castle Couture gift shop, you find Aurora’s dress. Watch it carefully and you can see the fairies fighting over the color of the dress.
6. Wish Book. There is a book to write your wishes for the Blue Fairy in Pinnochio’s Village House.
7. Priority Fastpasses in Fantasyland. If you are just concentrating on this land you should get Fastpasses for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan’s Flight, and It’s a Small World.
8. Cinderella’s Horse. On the carousel, look for Cinderella’s Horse. the only horse to sport a tail-ribbon.
9. Cinderella’s Fountain. Located on the walkway on the right of the castle you will find Cinderella’s fountain. Great photo spot!
10. Cinderella’s Statue. Behind Cinderella Castle, you will find a statue of Cinderella. If you are a child, she is wearing her crown because of the lower vantage point. If you are an adult she doesn’t appear to be wearing a crown.

Fantasyland is my favorite land in the Magic Kingdom. So many happy memories!
