Disney’s Pop Century

You aren’t going to want to miss this Guide to Disney’s Pop Century when planning your next trip. When you visit, you will see a wide array of nostalgic times dating from the 1950s through the 1990s. It’s so much fun; you can’t help but smile from ear to ear when visiting.

Guide to Disney’s Pop Century

What is Disney’s Pop Century Resort?

Pop Century is a Disney value resort, though it is priced a little more than the All-Star resorts due to the new Skyliner Access. It is located near Disney’s World World of Sports.

Pop Century Resort is an experience that is groovy, fun, and waiting on YOU! There are 60-foot tall figures and dancing silhouettes that summon you in, and I’m guessing you won’t want to leave anytime soon.

If you love the classic Disney style and characters, you are going to enjoy everything about your stay. When planning the layout and themes, they hit the nail on the head.

The resort is 177 acres, so as you can imagine, there is plenty to see and do while you are staying.

Pop Century Themes

Each decade represents a different theme from that era. Let’s look at some of the things that will be seen in each theme.

  • 1950’s – Jukeboxes and rock and roll are a must of this era. You will also find Lady and the Tramp, huge bowling pins, a 40-foot high jukebox, and even a swimming pool that is shaped like a bowling pin. The Bowling Pins stand over 65 feet tall! It’s a MUST-SEE!
  • 1960’s – If you love psychedelics and bright tie-dye, then you’ll love staying in this area of the resort. You’ll find Mowgli, Baloo, and Play-Doh Pete along with lots of fun sayings on the buildings. Plus, the Hibby Dippy Pool can be found here too.
  • 1970’s – What’s more 70’s than 8-track tapes? Yep, you’ll find them here that happen to be 35 feet high along with foosball men, and you’ll even see Mickey Mouse.
  • 1980’s – Everyone’s favorite 80’s handheld game is the Rubik’s Cube. When you see this Rubik’s Cube, you will notice that it’s huge, That’s because, at its highest point, it’s actually 41 feet off the ground. There is a huge Rubik’s Cube that lights up. If you are a child of the ’80s, I’m sure you will feel right at home.
  • 1990’s – When the 90’s hit, technology really gained a lot of steam. It’s only natural that it’s accented with floppy disks, computers, and cell phones.

Available Room Types

You may be shocked to find out that there are 2,880 rooms for guests! Plus, there are 10 different 4-story buildings, so there are many places to stay during your visit. Because Pop Century is a value resort, you can save some money staying here. Plus, all of the Disney resorts have rooms that are smoke-free.

There are 4 different room options. Each room has basic amenities such as WiFi, an in-room safe, hairdryer, coffee maker, and iron & ironing board. Each room will sleep up to 4 adults and one baby in a crib. If you have a larger party and need multiple rooms, they do offer rooms with adjacent doors between them. While they aren’t guaranteed, you can certainly ask for one when you book your room. Let’s dig into each of the rooms in a little more detail.

Preferred Pool View

The preferred pool view has a price range of $182 – $336, and you’ll be situated near Hippy Dippy Pool.

Preferred Room

A fantastic feature of the preferred room is that you can see the lovely courtyard and all the beautiful landscaping. You can expect to pay between $171 – $338 a night.

Standard Pool View Room

You get to lay your eyes on the Bowling Pool or the Computer Pool, depending on where you are located. The price point is going to range between $161 and $317.

Standard Room

While the views of a standard room are going to be of the hotel and the parking areas, you will be able to save a few dollars. This is a great option if you plan to spend most of your time away from your room. The prices are going to be $154 – $316.

Pop Resort Pools

One fun way to spend the day is soaking up the sun in one of the 3 swimming pools. You can swim in the Hippy Dippy Pool (which is shaped like a huge flower!), Bowling Pool or the Computer Pool. Each one has complimentary towels. The Hippy Dippy pool has a kiddie pool area with a pop-jet water fountain that is located nearby.

While each pool has great theming around it, the pools do not have any fun slides.

Things To Do at Pop Century

There are many other things to do at the Century Pop besides just swimming and hanging out in your room. You can also take the kids to the playground that’s located in the 70’s area. Or hit the Fast Forward Arcade in the Classic Call Building. Another fun thing to do is hang out by the Hippy Dippy Pool and watch the Movies Under The Stars. Plus, if you want to get some exercise in, you can hit the one-mile Jogging Trail.

Pop Century My Opinion

Out of the Disney value resorts, this is my favorite one. It’s my favorite because it does not share buses with other resorts, has Skyliner access, and is perfect for those guests who aren’t going to spend much time in their room. I am also a big fan of the tye-dye cheesecake that is exclusive to this resort!
