Disney Minnie Van Service – What You Need to Know

If you have ever been to the Magic Kingdom and have gone to leave anytime after the fireworks, you know that leaving the park and getting back to your resort can be a bit of a pain. Long lines and tired feet don’t make for very happy guests. Disney has come out with their version of Uber ride-sharing called Minnie Vans. Here is everything you need to know about the Disney Minnie Van service including how much it costs, tipping, availability of car seats, and how to request one.

Disney Minnie Van Service is Returning on June 29th, 2022!

What is the Disney Minnie Van Service?

The Disney Minnie Van Service is an Uber-like ride-sharing service that is run by the Walt Disney World Resort. Disney is using Chevrolet Traverse mid-size SUVs that are decorated in Minnie’s famous red and white polka dot pattern. One nice perk is that these cars feature USB charging ports.

Disney Cast Members are the drivers.

Right now the service hours are 6:30 am to 12:30 am.

How Do You Get a Disney Minnie Van Ride?

Disney is using the Lyft App that is available for both iOS and Android Users. You will request a ride through the app and pay directly through the app. You can also go to your resorts concierge desk and they will help you request a ride as well.

As of May 2018, the Minnie Van Service is available for all the resorts.

Where Will the Minnie Van Service Take Me?

The service will take you anywhere on the property you would like to go. This includes park to park, resort to park, resort to resort, etc.

Guests can now use the Disney Minnie Van service to go to the airport for a hefty fee of $150.

After starting the service with just deluxe Disney resorts and then all Disney World Resorts. The Disney Minnie Van service expanded in mid-September 2018 to include guests at Bonnet Creek, Flamingo Crossings, and Hotel Plaza Boulevard resorts.

How Much Does it Cost?

Starting in September 2018, the service has changed from a flat $25 fee to a distance-based fee. There is a flat fee of $15 and then $2.75 per mile traveled (this is not 100% confirmed yet).

If you have a big family, this is cheaper than getting an Uber. Since the Chevy Traverse can comfortably seat 7-8 passengers. This may be cheaper than getting an UberXL, especially during surge pricing.

Since the payment is through the app, I am guessing you do not have the option to pay with Disney Gift Cards. I also do not know if Lyft coupon codes will work with the Disney service. I will be looking for that information and updating this article once I find out.

Choosing Uber or Lyft is still cheaper overall, but you don’t get the cute theming. You can usually find a free code for Uber or Lyft as well.

Continuing to use Disney’s free transportation methods is the most cost-effective, but can be unpredictable and time-consuming.

Disney Minnie Van Car Seats

Parents will be excited to learn that up to 2 car seats are included with the Minnie Van Service. Many times Uber and UberXL do not have car seats and this makes a regular Uber and Lyft impossible to use.

Is the Minnie Van Service Wheelchair Accessible?

Yes! The wheelchair vans by default do not have car seats but they are available upon request. The wheelchair-accessible vans have vinyl seats unlike the seats in the regular vans.

To get an accessible Minnie Van simply confirm your pickup location and tap “Select Accessible Minnie Van”. If accessible Minnie Van service doesn’t immediately display, scroll through vehicle type options until it appears.

Can you Use Minnie Vans for Airport Transportation?

Prior to Covid, this was an option for club-level resort guests. Right now the website says Currently Unavailable so I am hoping this service will return soon since they didn’t completely take it off the website.

Who Should Use the Minnie Van Service?

I think this service is for anyone who values their time. Resort hopping takes too much time using Disney’s free transportation options. When you are dining at a resort that is not your own it can take up to 2 hours to get from resort to resort. You could be getting more fun out of your Disney vacation hours using the Minnie Van service. Though I probably wouldn’t use it every day of my vacation, there are several times when I think using the Minnie Van service is a great budget-friendly idea.

  • Early Breakfast reservations.
  • When you are extremely tired leaving a park at night and have children who need car seats.
  • If you are on a tight schedule and need to get to another park/resort quickly.
  • Resort to Resort dining.
  • Getting from a park to Disney Springs.
  • I am hoping these become available for early runDisney race hours.

Disney Minnie Van Secrets and Tips

  • Minnie Vans don’t just rock Minnie’s dots! Look for a Hidden Mickey on your sweet ride.
  • Disney Minnie Vans have been added to the Disney Transportation Card collection. Politely, ask your driver if they have any. These are completely free.
  • Don’t forget to budget in a tip.
  • Since Disney Minnie Van drivers are Disney Cast Members ask them if they have any insider tips or favorite things to do. They love sharing that info with you!

Overall, I think this is a great addition to Disney’s transportation options. Do you think you will be trying out the Minnie Vans on your next Disney vacation? Let me know in the comments!

I can definitely see myself using this for resort to resort travel. We LOVE dining at Animal Kingdom Lodge (Sanaa and Jiko), but it's hard and time consuming to get their from the other resorts. The seems like a great option!

Thanks for all the info on this new service. The jury is still out for me as to whether I would use it, but I know there was a night last year I wanted to go to the Boardwalk to eat and then back to my resort and there was no transportation as it was after park hours. I wonder if this would solve that problem. Thanks for linking to #mousefanmondays This week!

Tried out the Minnie Van during the free soft opening. It was nice, but I don't think it would typically be worth paying for over riding the free buses.

I have a 7:25am reservation to chef Mickey so we will definitely be using this option.

I wouldn't pay for this personally, however I think the vans are so cute!! And I think for big families/groups this might be an easier option for getting around or if you just don't wait to wait for the bus!

Yes, for big families and groups this option is great. Not much of a good deal for couples and small families.
