Go Back in Time With Dinner, Dancing, and Fun at The Edison

When asked to describe The Edison at Disney Springs, I would say it’s a totally different experience. Filled with Steampunk decor with a Speakeasy feel, a variety of cabaret performers, fun cocktails and modern American food every night is different. The Edison is a chance to dress up in your dapper best and enjoy a night out with your favorite person, or persons.

Experiencing The Edison

From the outside, the building looks like an old Electric Plant and that theme goes throughout the entire restaurant, with added touches of glamour. Entering the restaurant you feel like a VIP walking past the velvet ropes and being escorted to your table by glamorous showgirls that stepped out of the 1920’s and 30’s.

I went for dinner on a girl’s night out. We dressed in our sparkliest cocktail  dresses for a great night and fit in with the rest of the dinner crowd. During the day there is no formal dress code and family friendly entertainment but after 10pm the dress code goes dapper and the entertainment becomes an adult cabaret.

I highly recommend making a reservation for dinner, you can do this directly through the Edison’s website or Open Table. Once you have your table you can stay and enjoy the entertainment for the rest of the evening.

The menu isn’t huge but has some great offerings. We started with the DB ‘Clothesline Candied Bacon’ ($15) which is 4 strips of bacon served on a miniature clothesline held by clothespins and accompanied by pickles and a mustard dip. The bacon itself was very tasty, but definitely, a starter to share as the three of us left one piece untouched. Be forewarned the pickles are very hot! If you like spicy these are guaranteed to burn your mouth! The other sauce is a fruity mustard sauce, pleasant but the bacon by itself is delicious without any of the sauces.

Cocktails came next with a long list of fun choices to choose from, there really is something for everyone. For those who prefer beer or wine there is a decent selection of both on offer as well. The cocktails were well made and around the average price of drinks anywhere else on Disney property.

For the main course I ordered the Organic Tomato Soup & Gooey Grilled Cheese ($20). The soup was a good homemade tomato soup, the grilled cheese was huge but extremely greasy. My table mates shared The Edison Burger ($22) and both said there was more than enough for 2 to share and be satisfied.

Unfortunately we skipped out on dessert because there was so much food to eat but I want to go back and try the Lollipop Tree ($18). We saw this at another table and it reminded me of the old fashioned lollipop game at carnivals where the lollipops were stuck into a post and you had to pull them to win the prize. But with this Lollipop Tree every one was a prize of a delicious treat!

Let Them Entertain You |Entertainment at the Edison

I recommend requesting a table on the floor with a view of the stage and the balcony if possible. On the night we were there an amazing band played a mixture of old and new songs, and even some new songs done in a throwback jazz style. Typically the band did a 30-minute set, which was followed by other entertainment and then a DJ until they came back to the stage.

The first entertainment we saw, right as we arrived was a stilt walker, dressed in a Steampunk style he wandered between the tables and around the bar talking to patrons.

After the bands first set the Edison’s house dancers “The Pearls” came out and danced in flapper style Burlesque costumes, before and after their dances they wandered through the restaurant flirting with guests.

Following the dancers an Aerialist performed a ballet in the air above the dance floor. If you don’t come for anything else come to see her as she was amazing. On other nights they have a contortionist and other performers, everyone worth the show.

Between performances and the Band a DJ played a variety of songs and many people danced. We saw everything from fancy swing dance, to waltzes to a simple two step shuffle, it didn’t matter as long as they were having fun.

Overall it was a fun experience, definitely good for a special night or something different. So dress up, put your dancing shoes on and be ready to have some fun!
