5 Life Lessons from Zootopia

At first look, Zootopia presents itself as a cute children’s movie. I mean that is what I thought. The previews focus on the laughs the movie provides, well some of them as the movie is hilarious. What I loved about this movie is that it taught many lessons that I wish people, not just children, would learn and live out. The 5 Life Lessons from Zootopia make this movie a must-see!

5 Life Lessons from Zootopia

Follow your dreams. Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) had a dream when she was younger. Everybody told her she couldn’t achieve it. Her parents, her friends, her teachers, and even her boss. Judy never gives up! She tries harder and perseveres! Kids need to know they can achieve anything if they put effort into it. Even physical limitations shouldn’t be limitations in life.

People can change. When Judy was younger she got bullied and teased by a fox. That experience made her kind of leery of animals that were not of the same species. Later on, Judy Hopps learns that her parents are actually working with the kid that bullied her. He changed.

Prejudice hurts innocent people. Zootopia is all about animals, predators and prey, living together in harmony. When someone manipulated Zootopia for their own interest and created prejudice on purpose, several innocent people were affected.

Don’t judge someone’s character by their looks. The villain in this movie is not who I thought it was going to be. Judy Hopps judged someone at the beginning of the film and ended up being so wrong. Even though she learned the back story of the character, she still had doubts regarding him because of her childhood experience.

The Earth is beautiful. Zootopia puts all animals in one place. The way this is possible is to put 4 environments in one area. You see the tundra, rainforest, desert, and mainland. Disney did a beautiful job portraying all the areas. Though the message of conservation is not strong in this movie, all the scenery reflects Disney’s love for the Earth.

Overall, I give Zootopia 4/5 stars. It is a good film with touching moments and lots of laughter. My husband’s favorite character was Flash and I personally loved Judy Hopps because of her determination to be who she wanted.

Shakira did an awesome job with the song Try Everything. I absolutely LOVE that song. Director Byron Howard said, “For the role of Gazelle, Zootopia’s most beloved superstar, there was only one person on our wish list: Shakira. Luckily for us, she said yes. Her immense talent and charm bring Gazelle and her song, ‘Try Everything,’ to life.” All the other music was great as well and the Zootopia Soundtrack is now on my wish list!

Have you seen Zootopia yet, what did you think of it?
